Bugatti, an illustrious name for every car lover. Hardly any other brand stands for exclusivity, performance, and the highest quality as much as the long-established manufacturer from France. Their hyper sports car for the racetrack, the Bugatti Bolide, represents the new pinnacle of automotive engineering. soft trim also contributes its know-how to this unique project.

“It is a big honour to contribute to the seating technology of the Bolide. This car is one of its kind and fits our DNA perfectly. We combine all of our expertise in seat development and high-end manufacturing for automobile manufacturers to bring a unique seating experience. At the same time, we incorporate our experience from the motorsport sector to provide perfectly adaptable seat shells,” says Olaf Hofmann, technical manager at soft trim.

The Bugatti Bolide shows the limits of what is possible on four wheels. The bare numbers already reveal that this is an extraordinary vehicle: the hyper sports car, developed exclusively for the racetrack, has a 16-cylinder engine with a displacement of eight litres, which in the Bolide produces 1,600 hp. With a dry weight of just 1,450 kilograms, the power-to-weight ratio is just 0.9 kilograms per horsepower. This means that the all-wheel-drive car achieves unique performance on the racetrack.

In the futuristic cockpit of the car, which is strictly limited to 40 units, multi-pad seats are used that were developed and manufactured in collaboration with soft trim. For the first time in a Bugatti, the multi-pad seats in the striking X design are applied directly to the monocoque in a weight-saving manner and with the highest precision. This creates a direct connection between the driver and the car for maximum feedback from the vehicle and the road without compromising comfort.

Drivers have the choice between three seat sizes or an individual seat package, which – similar to the SPACER from soft trim – is adapted exactly to the customer’s body shape. The soft trim team draws on its many years of experience in the development and production of the successful SPACER racing seat shell, which is used from hypercar prototypes to GT3 race cars. High-quality materials such as leather, suede, Napa and Alcantara are available for the seats. Further accents, ranging from decorative stitching to fine laser perforations, ensure the highest level of individualisation.
